Nickel

NI-625

The material 2.4856 / NI-625 is a corrosion-resistant, high-strength nickel-chromium-molybdenum superalloy. Its high chromium and molybdenum content give the alloy outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice, and general corrosion, even in aggressive chloride-containing and marine environments. Unlike many nickel-based superalloys, 2.4856 derives its strength primarily through solid-solution strengthening rather than precipitation hardening, giving it an excellent combination of high strength, toughness, and ductility across a wide temperature range, from cryogenic conditions up to approximately 980 °C.

Properties

  • High strength and toughness over a wide temperature range
  • Excellent corrosion resistance (pitting, crevice, and general)
  • Good oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures
  • Excellent fatigue and thermal-fatigue strength

Applications

  • Chemical and petrochemical process equipment
  • Offshore and marine parts (pumps, valves, piping)
  • Exhaust, manifold and thermal shielding components
  • Heat exchangers and complex flow-path geometries
  • Defence Applications
