Stainless Steel
316L / 1.4404
Stainless Steel 1.4404/316L is one of the most frequently used corrosion-resistant stainless steels in LPBF. Due to the addition of molybdenum, this material offers significantly improved corrosion resistance compared with standard chromium-nickel steels. Thanks to its low carbon content, 1.4404 is also easy to process and post-treat. It has a wide range of applications in industries such as medical technology, food and chemical processing, and marine engineering.
Properties
- Good corrosion resistance
- High toughness and ductility
- Non-magnetic
- Good weldability and machinability
Applications
- Medical and surgical instruments
- Food and chemical industry components
- Marine and offshore parts
- General engineering brackets and housings
Example parts
9 Benchmark parts from Stainless Steel 316L
144 stacked driver parts from Stainless Steel 316L
